NAWASA spreads holiday cheer with Food Hamper Distribution

MONDAY 29 DECEMBER, 2014, ST. GEORGE’S GRENADA: - Staff at the National Water and Sewerage Authority (NAWASA) brought new meaning to the term ‘Sharing Christmas Joy’ this year.

A team headed by NAWASA’s General Manager Mr. Christopher Husbands, travelled around the island sharing Christmas joy in the form of Christmas Food Hampers on Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd December, 2014.

Communications Officer at the Authority, Ms. Jamila Lewis who was also part of the distribution team, said that the Authority understands the importance of giving back to consumers and that is why the decision was taken to have an initiative of that kind.

“Even after ten years, each time a hamper is handed over to a beneficiary it feels like the first time that it is being done. It is the hope of NAWASA that the number of hampers distributed will increase in the future.” Ms. Lewis added.

The initiative taken by the Authority to give back to the communities was praised by the beneficiaries. Tears of joy were apparent on some of their faces, while others were dumbfounded to realise that they were nominated and even chosen to receive a food hamper.

A numerous number of nominations were received and beneficiaries were chosen after careful consideration and thorough investigations by NAWASA’s field officers. The most nominations were received from the parish of St. George.

The Authority is encouraging residents to be proactive in nominating the needy in their community when the nomination period comes around in 2015.
